Bonhams: The Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction 2017
On Jan 26th, classic motorcycle enthusiasts traveled to Las Vegas for the 2017 Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction. Let's take a deeper look at three real pieces of history.
The first surprise was the final prize of a 1914 Feilbach 10HP Limited. The bike was offered from the Larry Bowman Collection. It was sold for 195.000 USD. Like Harley Davidson, the Feilbach Motor Company Ltd. was founded in the early 20th century in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Arthur Otto Feilbach started building motorcycles in 1904 and it was rumored that Billy Harley worked in his garage during his time on collage.
A real collectors item that was sold far under the estimated prize was a Harley Davidson X8E Big Twin build in 1912. The bike was from the former collection of actor Steve McQueen. The actual owner bought the bike two years ago at the Jan 2015 Bonhams auction for 117.300 USD and it was sold this time for 82.800 USD.
The last bike I'll show you is a real beauty. A bike from one of my favorite manufacturers. A 1936 Crocker "HEMI Head" in perfect condition. Only 7 of this bikes are known to exist today. The Crocker was not sold in this auction.
The Crocker Motorcycle Company was founded in 1934 by Albert Crocker who former worked for Indian Motorcyles.
