Let me show you a way to restore a speedometer face plate. I had a working speedometer in my 1940 truck, but all parts where pretty rusted. If you have a car with rust patina, a rusted speedometer may look nice. But if you plan to paint your car during restoration, you have to replace or restore the speedometer to have a consistent appearence of your car.
I had several requests about engines that are not covered by the two article before. This post will be about the Lincoln V12 Flatheads and all European Flathead V8.

The five front left wheel hub nuts on early ford trucks have a lefthand thread. You need a 1.5 inch (1 1/2) wrench to remove them. Turn wrench clockwise.
Same for left real wheel on all non dually axles.
The OEM Part No. of the nut is BB1121.
Part II of the Ford Flathead identification article. After we handled all 21 stud engines, the 60 HP and the monster 337cui engines, we'll look closer to all 24 stud engines in this part. The american Ford V8 24 stud Flatheads where build from 1938 to 1953. The displacement is 221, 239 or 255 cubic inch. The biggest problem in identifying: all engines look very similar.
Month ago, I found myself in trouble identifying Ford Flathead V8 engines. While I was looking for a replacement engine, I found many offers with a description like "pulled out of a truck" or "8CM from a 1950 F1". Most times more information about the car it was pulled from, than the engine itself. "8CM from a 1950 F1" - with other words: I have no idea what I'm selling. Yes, the 8CM fits in a Ford F1, but the correct engine is the 8RT. Most times I had to identify the engines based on tiny smartphone photos.
